Welcome to LPCN News October 2023

Welcome to the Autumn edition of LPCN news.

As we approach the winter season, the commitment of our partners to work collaboratively to drive improvements in care, despite significant capacity, workforce and resource constraints is even more important.

As the financial challenge intensifies across Leeds this collaborative and innovative approach is vital to ensuring funding for palliative and end of life care is spent as effectively as possible, supporting essential services in a sustainable and equitable way. We’d like to thank you all for your ongoing support in achieving this.

Dr Adam Hurlow, Chair

We say a big thank you to Trish Stockton who has stepped down as our Education Lead. Trish has had a lasting impact on LPCN and we are grateful for her time and insights. Leigh Taylor will be covering the Education post until a permanent representative is appointed.

Ellie Kane has also moved on from Chair of the LPCN Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group. Thanks to Ellie for all her hard work and commitment. Temba Ndirigu, Head of Clinical Development in the Adult Business Unit at Leeds Community Healthcare is going to take on this post. Welcome Tembu!

Natalie Sanderson and Clare Russell have agreed to take over as Joint Chairs of the Leeds Bereaved Carers Survey Group. Huge thanks to Helen Syme and Claire Iwaniszak for their long and highly valued support for the Network.

At the end of September, we said goodbye and thank you to Amanda Storer. Amanda has supported LPCN as our administrator for many years and we are hugely grateful for her contribution and dedication to the network. We wish Amanda a happy and peaceful retirement, from everyone here at LPCN.

We’d would like to welcome Justine Ball to the LPCN team as she joins us as our new Network Administrator. Justine can be contacted on justine.ball@nhs.net for any Network enquiries going forward. Welcome on-board Justine!
